Escambia Academy’s girls softball team knows and accepts challenges.
At present, the Lady Cougars are 5-5 on the season. Four of their losses were against Class 3A schools.
EA softball coach Larry Bonds said the girls will play their biggest game so far tomorrow against defending area champion, Lowndes Academy.
“Our lady cougars know the challenge they face,” Bonds said. “I know one thing if you want to see 14 young ladies give it everything they have you do not want to miss this game.”
Bonds said seniors and captains Lillie Lanham is batting .688 with two homeruns, and Julie Conway is batting .333.
Bonds said his seniors are leading a young team, which is beginning to believe in themselves.
Juniors Malory Davis (.480) and Lea Odom (.419), and sophomore Caitlin Lanham is batting .500 with a homerun to lead the team.
First pitch tomorrow in Canoe is at 4 p.m.
