Significant severe weather is forecasted to blow across the area with damaging straight line winds up to 80 miles per hour this afternoon and tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
Potential threats include wind capable of considerable damage to trees, power lines, structure and crops; wind gusts up to 80 mph could be possible; and fast-moving tornados, some strong.
Escambia County EMA Director David Adams said Tuesday the risk of severe weather has increased to “Moderate” (or 4 out of 5). The timing of the severe weather is slated to be late this afternoon through the night, and the line of storms will be moving fast.
