A fire destroyed a residence on Lee Street Wednesday night, according to the Atmore Fire Department.
Chief Ronald Peebles said the AFD was called at 6:17 p.m. on Wednesday to the scene, where firefighters found the house fully involved.
Peebles said the Poarch Fire Department, along with Walnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department, were called for mutual aid. However, WHVFD was canceled to the scene.
Peebles said the fire started around the front porch and the wind blew the fire through the house, which was an older structure.
Peebles said the AFD managed to save the backside of the house, and no one was injured.
The resident, who lived at the residence part time, was at another house a short distance away, he said.
Peebles said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
The AFD cleared the scene at 7:30 p.m.
