An Atmore woman was arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child on May 2, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said Daphne Powers, 35, of Atmore, has been charged with chemical endangerment of a child.
McMann said in a release that on Aug. 24, 2021, the APD was contacted by the Alabama Department of Human Resources in reference to the chemical endangerment of a child.
“A newborn child was born with cocaine in its system,” McMann said. “The mother, (Powers), admitted to using cocaine during her pregnancy.”
McMann said an arrest warrant was issued for Powers, and she was arrested on May 2, 2022.
