Escambia County’s varsity basketball team celebrated its 2021-22 season with a banner reveal at the school’s auditorium on May 24.

The banner is a picture of the team, and recognizes the achievement of finishing as the Class 4A state runner up, a first in school history.

Principal Amy Cabaniss said the team made a statement last season.

“You’re brothers, and have all kinds of family, but you guys are basketball family,” Cabaniss said. “You did it the right way.”

The banner will hang in the Cornell Torrence Gymnasium forever, Cabaniss said.

“And when you come back as alumni or next season as players and look up there, you’ll be able to say, ‘We accomplished this,’” she said.

Each team member got a team-signed ball.
