An inmate escaped from Fountain Correctional Facility this morning, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.

According to a release, Edward Williams, escaped from the facility, which is located outside of Atmore, at approximately 9:20 a.m.

Williams 6-foot-1, has black hair and brown eyes and weighs 143 pounds.

He was convicted of robbery I out of Jefferson County.
