The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts (GECA) is presenting the Neil Simon comedy, “Fools” on June 16-19 and June 23-26.
Each weekend will feature a different cast, according to GECA officials.
The red cast performs this week, and the blue cast performs next week.
Shows will begin Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $12 ($9 for members) and can be purchased at www.gecarts.org. Members must purchase their tickets at the door to receive the discount.
The comedy follows Leon Tolchinsky, who has landed a teaching job in an idyllic Russian hamlet.
When Tolchinsky arrives, he finds people sweeping dust from the stoops back into their houses and people milking upside down to get more cream, according to the comedy’s synopsis.
The town has been cursed with chronic stupidity for 200 years, and Tolchinsky’s job is to break the curse. No one tells him that if he stays over 24 hours and fails to break the curse, he too becomes stupid. But he has fallen in love with a girl so stupid; she has only recently learned how to sit down.
The red cast list includes Trevor Miller, playing Tolchinsky; Peggy Sunday playing Snetsky; Sharon Poulsen, playing Magistrate; Leah Miller playing Slovitch; Abi Mascaro playing Mishkin; Katherine Eby playing Yenchna; Dietrich Bondurant playing Dr. Zubritsky; Patty Castleberry playing Lenya Zubritsky; Hannah Mascaro playing Sophia Zubritsky; and Tyler Miller playing Gregor Yousekevitch.
The blue cast list includes Jadon Torres playing Tolchinsky; Justus Zundel playing Snetsky; Tom Jeter playing Magistrate; Leah Miller playing Slovitch; Jenny Davidson playing Mishkin; Poulsen playing Yenchna; Andrew Barrow playing Dr. Zubritsky; Leslie Garner playing Lenya Zubritsky; Amanda Miller playing Sophia Zubritsky; and Danny Hall playing Yousekevitch.
