The Atmore City Council approved a sales contract of a piece of land at the Rivercane Development on Monday.

The property is comprised of 1.72 acres, or 74,557 feet, and the purchase price is $9 per square foot, according to city officials.

The piece of land is located behind Taco Bell and just northeast of where the new Atmore Urgent Care Clinic will be located.

WYN Atmore LLC purchased the property, and it will be used for a Microtel by Wyndham.

In other business, the city:

• adopted resolution 2022-12, a resolution giving West Escambia Utilities permission to sell the site where the old landfill was located. WEU purchased the site some 20 years ago, and the site will be where the new megaprison is going to be located.
