The Atmore City Council approved the letting of bids for the clean out of ditches at its meeting on Monday.

The measure allows city engineers to draw up plans to clean out the ditches in the city limits. To do so, the city will divide into four quadrants, and a bid will be approved for each quadrant, Mayor Pro-Tem Shawn Lassiter said.
Lassiter said the ditch cleaning will be paid for through the city’s gas tax funds.

In other business, the city:

  • adopted resolution 2022-13 for a grass and weed ordinance. The resolution allows the city to send letters, post signs and the publishing in the newspaper of 14 properties for grass and weed nuisances. The notice allows the property owner 21 days to address the issue.
