Strong thunderstorms to impact area

Strong thunderstorms are slated to impact portions of southwestern Monroe, northeastern Baldwin, Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rose and northwestern Escambia Countys through 4:45 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a special weather statement at 3:15 p.m.

The statement is below:

At 314 PM CDT, National Weather Service doppler radar indicated scattered strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles northwest of McCullough to 5 miles northeast of Baker. Movement was south at 20 mph. HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE…Radar indicated. IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is         possible. Locations impacted include… Crestview, Atmore, Pace, Milton, Brewton, Century, Flomaton, Bagdad, Baker, McCullough, East Brewton, Molino, Jay, Laurel Hill, Pollard, Riverview, Point Baker, I65 And AL 113, Pea Ridge and Roeville. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
