Escambia Academy’s varsity volleyball squad won its fifth straight match Thursday in a 3-0 (25-14, 27-25, 25-13) victory over Snook Academy.
Lady Cougars volleyball coach Larry Bonds said the girls trailed the second set at 7-0, but battled back to win. He added that the girls dominated the third set.
“With two of the starters playing hurt (in Caitlin Lanham and Tava Johnson), senior Tiffany Gookin played great serving 13-of-13 and registered seven kills,” Bonds said. “Through the pain, Tava would be a perfect 7-of-7 with one kill.”
Lanham was 8-of-9 with six assists.
At present, EA is 7-4 overall, and spotless in AISA Class 1A, Region 2.
The Lady Cougars play Fort Dale Academy on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
