FHP looking for information on driver involved in fatal hit and run in Escambia County, Fla.

UPDATE: According to the FHP, the 2005 white Toyota Highlander has been located with the assistance of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, in Lillian. FHP officials said they were able to take possession of the vehicle, as evidence, through the proper legal process.

According to the FHP, it also has a suspect driver in this tragic event and is continuing to conduct its thorough investigation to ensure the correct person is held accountable for the fatal crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for information on the driver who may have been involved in a fatal hit and run accident Wednesday night in Escambia County, Fla.

The accident occurred at State Road 292 west of State Road 173, or Blue Angel Parkway, according to the FHP.

According to officials, the highway patrol is looking for a 2005 Toyota Highland with windshield and grill damage. The vehicle was an Alabama tag number of 5A07H3U. The driver is possibly a female, officials said.

According to the FHP report, two byciclists were traveling west on State Road 292 near the edge of the roadway when a Toyota Highlander, also traveling west on 292 struck the bicyclists. The Highlander then fled the scene of the crash.

One byciclist was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was trasnported to Baptist Hospital.

The Highlander was located in Lillian, and charges will be pending further criminal investigation.
