Members of the American Legion Post 90 celebrated and recognized post and community members who have been instrumental in the post’s and community’s improvement and success during a dinner on Dec. 20.
Adjutant Paul Chason said in a release that Commander Dave Graham welcomed Rep. Alan Baker, Mayor Jim Staff, Councilman Shawn Lassiter, President and CEO of Pepsi Bottling Co. Dale Ash and District Commander Larry Meeks and his wife to the celebration. Graham also welcomed members of the T-Mobile Homettown grant team to the community.
Recognitions included:
- Harold and Beverly Madison: Certifications of Appreciation. Harold and Beverly volunteer to support the veterans monument and the VFW and American Legion Post though out the year. Anytime the flags need to be lowered to half-mast, raised or replaced Harold and Beverly take care of it. We are very thankful for their work, Chason said.
- William Smith: Certificate of Appreciation. Smith donated multiple hours of his time and expertise to support the timely, professional installation of the water park pollinator garden, Chason said.
- Dale Ash: Certificate of Appreciation. Ash has been a great mentor for the post, her actions and technical acumen and superb writing abilities are extremely instrumental in raising funds and maintaining momentum for our pollinator garden, Chason said.
“We are also thankful to the T-Mobile Home-town grant team for joining us and providing a very memorable Christmas present for the post and our community – a $50,000 grant to move our project into Phase II,” Chason said. “The addition of a pergola, water feature, fence to protect our monument area and additions to our recently installed pavilion. Thank you so much for recognizing our community and our post with this tremendous award.”
