Young to speak at MLK Day Program

Marlo Young will be the guest speaker at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Program at Emmanuel Faith Center on Jan. 16.
Young, an Atmore native, is the mental health service coordinator with the Escambia County School System. She serves as a liaison for the county school system, where she works with students, families, teachers, counselors and administrators to identify and address the social/emotional, mental health and wellness needs of students.
Young coordinates all the mental health counseling referrals and resources for students throughout the school district.
Additionally, she’s a certified mental health coach, and a certified youth and adult mental health first aid instructor that provides training on the importance of early intervention and how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a mental health challenge.
Young is the founder of PRIMA Girl, a faith-based girls mentorship program in Escambia County.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Alabama State University, and two master’s degrees from the University of West Alabama.
Young is married to the Rev. Dr. Donzell L. Young Sr., and they have two daughters, Ariyana and Ziah, and one son, Donzell Young Jr.
The annual MLK Day Parade will be held prior to the program.
