The Atmore City Council approved a special events license request for a remote control car event during its meeting on Monday.

The event will be held at Rivercane during the last weekend of February, Mayor Jim Staff said during the meeting.

In other business, the city:

• approved the Historic Preservation Commission appointment of Lori Stinson.
