A Victorville, Calif. man and a Foley woman were arrested Feb. 14 on drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Jared Dean, 32, of Victorville, and Amanda Pitts, 42, of Foley, were arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Valentine’s Day, an APD officer observed a vehicle on South Presley Street driving without tag lights.
McMann said the officer conducted a traffic stop, and contacted Dean, the driver, and Pitts, a passenger.
“When the officer contacted Dean and Pitts, there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle,” McMann said.
McMann said upon searching the vehicle, the officers discovered a prescription bottle of hydrocodone containing hydrocodone pills that were prescribed to someone other than Dean and Pitts.
“Also discovered in the vehicle was a metal tray with a crystal-like residue on it that field tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said. “The vehicle also had a glass tray that also had a crystal-like residue on it that field tested positive for methamphetamine, a small plastic baggie that contained approximately .6 grams of a crystal-like substance that also field tested for methamphetamine.”
Dean and Pitts were then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
