An Atmore woman was arrested Feb. 22 on a domestic violence charge, according to police officials.

Atmore Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Whitney McGhee, 23, of Atmore, was arrested and charged with domestic violence III and was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

Her arrest stems after APD officers responded to 911 N. Main St., in reference to a female (McGhee), allegedly attempting to run over someone in the parking lot.

“Officers were able to locate a witness who described what they observed, and that the male that was being chased had to jump in the ditch to get away,” McMann said. “Officers were able to determine that McGhee struck the male with the vehicle before he jumped in the ditch and suffered minor injuries.”
