McMann said APD officers responded to the area of Highway 21 and Poarch Road in reference to a shots fired complaint.

“While officers were searching the area, an Escambia County (Ala.) Deputy Sheriff observed one of the vehicles a witness described as being involved in a nearby parking lot,” McMann said. “When the deputy approached the driver, who was later identified as Robinson, he ran from the scene, but was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.”

McMann said after officers interviewed Robinson, they determined through statements and evidence that Robinson allegedly attempted to sell narcotics to suspects in a second vehicle who attempted to pay with fake currency with ‘Motion Picture Only’ stamped on the fake currency.

“The second vehicle sped away and Robinson began pursuing the vehicle,” McMann said. “During the pursuit, one of the occupants of the vehicle shot at Robinson striking his vehicle at least one time.”

Robinson was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton, and the occupants of the second vehicle were not located.

The incident is still under investigation and additional charges are forthcoming, McMann said.
