No injuries as a result of fire
Some 400 acres burned in a fire off of Phillipsville Road near Perdido Tuesday afternoon, according to officials.
Perdido Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Clay Shiver said the cause is still under investigation, and the Alabama Forestry Service helped contain the fire.
Shiver said the forestry service brought two dozers and made a fire line all the way around the fire.
Shiver said they were able to stop the fire at the road, and contained it on the south side of Phillipsville Road.
“It took about an hour and a half to get it under control,” he said. “It took four hours total to get it extinguished.”
Shiver said the fire department was called by residents at about 2:45 p.m. as they saw smoke in the area. He added he went out to the area, and paged the forestry service right away.
No one was injured as a result of the fire.
Rabun and Lottie Volunteer Fire Departments also responded to the fire.
