An Atmore woman was arrested May 10 in the Walmart parking lot on drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Courtney Watkins, 33, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana II, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said APD officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the local store’s parking lot last Wednesday.
McMann said the responding officer found the vehicle and contacted Watkins.
“While the officer was speaking to Watkins, the officer noticed she was (allegedly) moving items around and possibly attempting to hide something,” McMann said.
McMann said the officer was given consent to search the vehicle and discovered 8.5 grams of marijuana, two THC chocolate candy bars, two cigars in which the tobacco was removed and replaced with marijuana, a digital scale and 35 grams of synthetic marijuana.
Watkins was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
