One person died and another is in serious condition after a shooting this morning, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darell McMann said in a release that at approximately 2:15 a.m. today, APD officers responded to the area of Carver Avenue and King Street in reference to a shots fired complaint.

“When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that two people had been shot,” McMann said.

McMann said both victims were transported to the hospital. One of the victims died from his injuries, and the other is in serious condition, he said.

McMann said the motive is still under investigation, and investigators are working to notify family members.
