Mobile man arrested on drug charges

A Mobile man was arrested June 5 on drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Blake Scoggin, 34, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 7:25 p.m. on June 5, an APD performed a traffic stop on Highway 21 in reference to a vehicle not displaying a license plate. The officer contacted Scoggin.

“Scoggin gave consent to the officer to search his vehicle,” McMann said. “During the search the officer discovered approximately one gram a crystal-like substance in a small plastic baggie that field tested positive for methamphetamine.”

Scoggin was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
