Forecasters are expecting several more rounds of thunderstorms to move southeast across the region over the next 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service.
This new line of thunderstorms is the second round of storms that will have passed through the area within 24 hours.
On Friday morning, storms with rain and high winds knocked down tree limbs and power lines.
Atmore firefighters, police officers and the street department were busy clearing debris from roadways.
The next round of storms will likely affect the area this evening, then after a short break late tonight, NWS forecasters expect another round during the morning on Saturday.
“The overall pattern will not be changing, so these additional rounds of storms will also be capable of producing severe weather – primarily damaging winds and large hail, but isolated tornadoes will be possible,” NWS officials said. “There will also be a high potential for heavy rainfall and resultant flash flooding across much of the area through at least Sunday.”
