Atmore firefighters, police officers and the street department were busy clearing debris from roadways.

The next round of storms will likely affect the area this evening, then after a short break late tonight, NWS forecasters expect another round during the morning on Saturday.

“The overall pattern will not be changing, so these additional rounds of storms will also be capable of producing severe weather – primarily damaging winds and large hail, but isolated tornadoes will be possible,” NWS officials said. “There will also be a high potential for heavy rainfall and resultant flash flooding across much of the area through at least Sunday.”
