Pride of Atmore officials announced July 4 the schedule of events for the grand opening of the Strand Theatre and Encore.

The grand opening will be held this Sat., July 8, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. for all ages and from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. for those 21 and older.

Officials said recognition for all donors who have helped make the renovation of the theatre and hardware possible; live performances by the Railway Arts Guild; and live music from Southern Approach will be held.

The schedule of events for the grand opening include:

July 8, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

• 2-2:15 p.m. – Gathering in the theatre, and presentation of the American Flag by Boy Scouts Troop of Atmore. The “National Anthem” will be sung by Felicia Bishop

• 2:20-3 p.m. – Speech from Mayor Jim Staff; live performance from Railway Arts Guild, A Vaudeville Act

• 3 p.m. – Live performance from Expose

• 3:15 to 4 p.m. – Tours of the Encore and Strand Theature

• 3:30 p.m. – Video message created by Albert Grassia

• 3:40 to 4 p.m. – Movie scenes from Disney’s “Fantasia (1940)”

July 8, from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

• Celebration for the grand opening of the Encore and the 100th birthday of the Strand Theatre.

• Doors open at 7 p.m., and the event incldues dancing, live music by Southern Approach; hor d’oeuvrs, cash bar with some drinks made just for the Theatre and Encore.

• 1920s themed attire encouraged for the evening’s event
