ECBOE approves personnel recommendations at July 13 meeting

The Escambia County Board of Education approved personnel recommendations during its July 13 meeting at the Central Office in Brewton.

The BOE approved the following personnel recommendations:


  • Margie Baggett, as bus driver at Brewton Bus Shop, effective May 26, 2023;

  • Kim Yarber, as English/language arts teacher at Escambia County High School, effective June 29;
  • Wesley Tucker, as science teacher at Escambia County Alternative School, effective Aug. 2;
  • Michael Williams, as assistant band director at Escambia County Middle School, effective July 14;
  • Kathleen Allen, as secretary/registrar at Huxford Elementary School, effective July 5;
  • Beverly VanHoosen, as seven-hour lunchroom worker at Pollard McCall Junior High School, effective July 1;
  • Gala Nobles, as elementary teacher at Rachel Patterson Elementary School, effective Aug. 2;
  • Terries Lett, as assistant principal at RPES, effective July 10;
  • Robert Spicer, as bus driver at Brewton Bus Shop, effective May 26;
  • Rheanna Thomas, as special needs bus aide at Brewton Bus Shop, effective July 10;


  • Torie Trentham, as secondary math specialist at ECBOE, effective July 25;

  • Patrice Fountain, as special education teacher at ECAS, replacing Elizabeth Chaloux, effective Aug. 2;
  • Elishhia Perez, as English/language arts teacher at ECAS, replacing Joe Ellington, effective Aug. 2;
  • Ashley Snow, as secondary teacher at Flomaton High School, replacing Daniel Killam, effective Aug. 2;
  • Angela Boutwell, as CNP manager at Flomaton Elementary School, replacing Laura Bailey, effective Aug. 2;
  • Sharon Brown, as academic interventionist at HES, replacing Teresa Jordan, effective Aug. 2;
  • Tasha McFurgeson, as Pre-K auxiliary teacher aide at Pollard McCall Junior High School, effective Aug. 2;
  • Joann Delillo, as six-hour lunchroom worker at W.S. Neal Middle School, replacing Minnie Hassell, effective Aug. 2;
  • Logan Cook, as science teacher at WSNMS, replacing Reyna Vega, effective Aug. 2;
  • Katie Clay, as special needs bus aide at Brewton Bus Shop, replacing Fancis Ward, effective Aug. 4;

Employment change

  • Raquel Davis, from secondary reading ELA specialist at ECBOE to assistant principal at RPES, replacing Lett, effective July 25;
  • Victoria Shipp, from six-hour lunchroom worker at ECMS to seven-hour lunchroom worker at ECMS, replacing Cheryl Shoemaker, effective Aug. 2;
  • Heather Kirkland, from elementary teacher at PMJHS to ARI reading specialist/coach at PMJHS, replacing Traci Ward, effective Aug. 2;


  • Sydnie High, as elementary teacher, from RPES to WSNMS, replacing Susan Wiggins, effective Aug. 2;
  • Katie Sirmon, as elementary teacher, from W.S. Neal Elementary School to PMJHS, replacing Heather Kirkland, effective Aug. 2;

Summer employment

  • James Williams, as custodian at ECMS, effective July 20; and,
  • Cierra Strehl, as custodian at HES, effective July 17.

In other business, the board:

  • tabled the approval of the fiscal year 2024 salary schedule;
  • tabled the approval of the 2023-24 salary schedule supplement;
  • approved the ECBOE Travel Reimbursement Procedures/Guidelines; and,
  • and tabled the revision of board policy 3.10.1 – Fiscal Management – Employee Compensation. The item will be tabled for 30 days.
