An Atmore woman was arrested July 26 on drug and public intoxication charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Alida Tecun, 44, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.

McMann said at approximately 4:10 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer responded to an area convenience store in reference to an intoxicated person on the property.

“When the officer arrived, they observed a female, later identified as Alida Tecun, age 44, of Atmore, leaning against a wall going in and out of consciousness,” McMann said. “When the officer contacted Tecun, she was unable to stand without assistance and had slurred speech. While speaking with Tecun, the officers discovered that she had driven to the store. Tecun gave the officer consent to search her vehicle.”

McMann said while searching the vehicle, the officer discovered several atropine sulfate pills. Tecun was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
