Pensacola, Fla. man arrested for drugs, DUI on July 27

A Pensacola, Fla. man was arrested July 27 on drug and driving under the influence charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Eric McClain, 44, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

McMann said the arrested occurred after an APD officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated without headlights at approximately 2:50 a.m.

“Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer contacted the driver, Eric McClain age 44 of Pensacola, Fla.,” McMann said. “While speaking with McClain, the officer detected a strong (odor) of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The officer also observed signs that McClain was operating a vehicle while under the influence. McClain was requested by the officer to perform a field sobriety test, which he failed. During a search of McClain, the officer discovered approximately 1 gram of a white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine.”

McClain was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
