A Mobile man was arrested today for the murder of an Atmore man, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Chief Chuck Brooks said in an email that Antonio L. Pettaway II, of Mobile, was arrested and is currently in the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

Pettaway was arrested for the murder of Jatyrain A. Tolbert.

According to Atmore Advance archives, APD officers responded to Brooks Lane in reference to a traffic crash on July 25 at approximately 5 p.m.

“When the officers arrived, they discovered the driver had been shot,” McMann said. “The victim was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.”

Brooks said Pettaway turned himself into the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
