Woman dies in single-vehicle crash involving pedestrian Aug. 6

Editor’s note: The name of the deceased, provided by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, was incorrect. ALEA officials said they made a mistake and provided the media with the wrong name in the news release of the fatality. The deceased was not a Cantonment, Fla. woman.

ALEA officials are working to release the correct name, and we’ll post it as soon as it is official.

A woman died in a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian Aug. 6 on Highway 31 near the 39-mile marker, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Senior Trooper Kendra McKinney said the crash occurred at approximately 12 a.m.

McKinney said Kati Riley, 39, was fatally injured after being struck by the 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was driven by Kenneth E. Harrison, 45, of Sliverhill.

“Riley was pronounced deceased at the scene,” McKinney said.

McKinney said the crash occurred approximately 2 miles north of Atmore.

No further information is available as troopers continue to investigate.
