Arrest stemmed after APD officer saw woman allegedly throw an object out the window of a car
A Foley woman was arrested on multiple drug charges Aug. 3, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Amanda Pitts, 42, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said the arrest stemmed after Pitts allegedly threw an object out of the front seat passenger window after an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 21. The traffic stop was done at approximately 3 p.m. Aug 3 in reference to a tint violation.
“The officer contacted the passenger, Amanda Pitts age 42 of Foley,” McMann said. “Pitts was searched by a female officer and several plastic baggies were found on her person, which contained a brown grainy substance and a crystal-like substance that field tested for heroin and methamphetamine. The object that was tossed out of the window was tin foil that didn’t contain residue.”
Pitts was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
