An excessive heat warning has been issued for Atmore today, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the NWS, heat index values up to 117 degrees are forecasted.

The warning has been issued for portions of south central and southwest Alabama, northwest Florida and southeast Mississippi.

The warning has been issued until 7 tonight, and will extend from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday.
