Holman canteen clerk arrested today for prison contraband

A W.C. Holman Correctional Facility canteen clerk was arrested today on promoting prison contraband charges, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.

According to a release, at approximately 7:55 a.m., Katoshia Brown arrived at the facility and was searched prior to reporting to her designated area.

Brown was allegedly found to be in possession of a contraband cell phone.

Then, the ADOC Law Enforcement Services Division opened an investigation, according to a release.

Brown has been charged with prohibited activity and promoting prison contraband I, and was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton for booking and processing.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending, according to the ADOC.
