A scuffle broke out between Escambia Academy and Banks Academy players with 9 seconds remaining in tonight’s contest at Briarwood Christian School, according to the Cougars’ Facebook page’s video playback.

EA head football coach Gex Billups declined to comment on the scuffle.

However, Billups said prior to the scuffle, Banks took a knee to end the game.

Banks won tonight’s game 60-38.

Billups said in spite of the scuffle, the rest of the game was great.

The Cougars trailed 39-38 halfway through the fourth quarter.

“The kids played as well as they could,” Billups said. “We’ll bounce back and get ready for next week.”

EA visits Jackson Academy next Fri., Sept. 15, in AISA Class 2A, Region 2 action.
