EA holds 2023 Cross Country Invite Sept. 7

Escambia Academy held its 2023 Cross Country Invite Sept. 7 at Bicentennial Park in Stockton.

The Cougars competed in the boys varsity run, along with the girls 1-mile elementary run.

Runners competed in the boys 1-mile run elementary; 2-mile run junior varsity; 3.6-mile run junior varsity; 5K run varsity; girls competed in the 1-mile run elementary; 2-mile run JV; and 5K varsity run.

EA was one of nine teams that participated in the meet. The other teams included Bessemer Academy, Eastwood Christian, Evangel Christian, Ezekiel Academy, Heritage Christian, Snook Christian, The Lakeside School and Wiregrass Kings.

The following are the results of EA’s runners by gender:

Girls

  • Scarlett Phillips, fourth place in the 1-mile run, 9 minutes, 41.13 seconds

Boys

  • Blayden Huff, 20th place, 3.6-mile run, 35:51.50
  • Danny Doerr, fifth place, 5K run, 20:35.52
  • Eli Covington, eighth place, 5K run, 20:54.63

  • Carter Bonner of The Lakeside School, first place, 8:14.33

Boys 2-mile JV

  • Luke Barron of Wiregrass Kings, first place, 22:32.27

Boys 3.6-mile run

  • Riley Jones of Evangel Christian Academy, first place, 24:56.83

Boys 5K varsity run

  • Eli Wharton of Bessemer Academy, first place, 17:14.10

Girls 1-mile run elementary

  • Emma Rodriguez of Eastwood Christian, first place, 9:04.06
