The intersection improvements at Highway 21 and Poarch Road across from Wind Creek Casino and Hotel Atmore have been completed, according to Alabama Department of Transportation officials.
According to ALDOT, the new improvements include updated signal lights, the addition of a right turn lane and modifications to the center turn lane to accommodate increased traffic and future traffic patterns for the area’s anticipated hospital complex.
The project was completed at a cost of $811,252.08 through the state ATRIP-II Program with a focus on public safety and economic growth.
ATRIP-II is an ALDOT administered transportation infrastructure grant program for projects of local interest created through the Rebuild Alabama Act of 2019.
