Escambia Academy quarterback Keller Coston and Quinton Odom connected on four touchdowns to help lead the Cougars to a 32-12 road victory over Hooper Friday night.

Cougars head football coach Gex Billups said the players played hard from start to finish.

“They played a really good game,” Billups said. “Coming off a bye week, we worked hard on a lot of stuff. I thought we were more physical than we have been.”

Billups said they used the bye week to get healthier, work on their craft and get better at what they do.

During the game tonight, Traegan James had two interceptions on defense.

Next week, the Cougars (2-4) host Pickens Academy for homecoming.

Billups said even though it’s homecoming, it’s a region game.

“Pickens has been down a couple years, but are still a really good football program,” he said. “They’re well coached. We can’t let the homecoming distractions get in our way, and go and win the football game.”

Kick off next Friday night is at 7 at Bachelor Field.
