Escambia Academy fell 42-14 tonight to Patrician Academy in a road region contest in Butler.

Cougars head football coach Gex Billups said the Saints are a well coached (Jonathan Lindsey) and good team.

“They run the Wing-T dang near to perfection,” Billups said. “Our kids played hard, and fought to the end. We’ve just got to bounce back for next week.”

Escambia Academy’s Keller Coston threw one touchdown to Quinton Odom, and Y McNeal rushed for a score for the Cougars.

Billups said given the loss, his offensive line did well.

“We ran the ball extremely well all night,” he said. “Ty McCants ran well all night. They moved the ball all night, and we just couldn’t capitalize.”

With the loss, the Cougars fall to 3-5 overall, and 1-3 in AISA Class 2A, Region 2 play. EA will be at home the next two weeks against South Choctaw and Fort Dale.

Billups said the team will need to keep focusing on getting better, winning and working its craft.

“We can’t overlook this team (South Choctaw),” he said. “We’ve just got to play our game.”
