Over the summer, President Joe Biden asked, “Where’s the money?” when he was questioned about allegations of bribery during his time as a public figure. Well, just this past Friday, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Republicans found the money. Chairman James Comer announced the committee found a $200,000 direct payment to Biden in 2018.

The Oversight Committee has been examining evidence obtained from subpoenaing bank accounts belonging to Hunter Biden, James and Sara Biden (the brother and sister-in-law of Joe Biden), and Biden himself. One of the first things they’ve found is this $200,000 direct payment to Joe Biden in the form of a personal check from James and Sara Biden.

Bankruptcy documents obtained by the Oversight Committee show James Biden received $600,000 in loans in 2018 from Americore (a failing rural hospital facing financial hardship). These documents show James Biden received these loans “based upon representations that his last name ‘Biden’ could ‘open doors’ and that he could obtain a large investment from the Middle East based on his political connections.”

One of these loans to James and Sara Biden was for $200,000 on March 1, 2018. The very same day Americore wired this loan into James and Sara Biden’s personal bank account, James Biden wrote a $200,000 check to Joe Biden from the very same personal bank account. This check from James Biden to Joe Biden was written as a “loan repayment.” How does this make any logical sense? A failing company loans money to James Biden, who then writes a check in the exact same amount to his brother on the same day. And all of this was done between personal checking accounts – not business accounts.

The discovery of this “loan repayment” is just the latest in a string of shady financial deals Joe Biden and Hunter Biden have been involved in. The American people deserve better than elected officials who use their public office for personal gain.

Let’s be clear: House Republicans will continue following the facts and evidence in this case as the impeachment inquiry against President Biden continues. The Oversight Committee is continuing to look at evidence subpoenaed from bank accounts belonging to Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, and their business associates. We will not stop until the American people have the full truth and the Biden family is held accountable.
