“Hat’s off to them (Evangel),” EA boys basketball coach Jerome Webster said. “This was their first game, and this was our third game. We were a little more tuned. Overall, we played with intensity. We have a good group of corps guys back, but in all, we’ve still got to get better.”

With the victory, EA improves to 3-0 overall heading into the Thanksgiving holiday.

Webster said the start to the season has gone great as the players have bought into the system that was installed last year.

Charlie Sasser and Luke Bell contributed with nine and eight points, respectively.

T. Shine led Evangel with nine points.

In girls action, the Lady Cougars powered their way to a 34-33 win over Evangel.

Zy McNeal led with 16 points, and Krisslyn Lee added 12 points in the win.

Kate Davis, who made a key field goal late in the contest, scored six points.

Webster, who is serving as the girls coach, said the young team has done well so far this season.
