An Atmore man was arrested Nov. 17 on multiple drug charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Mahkail Reynolds, 36, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (powder cocaine and MDMA, or molly/ecstasy), possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance (crack cocaine), possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said the arrest stemmed after an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired tag at approximately 6:05 p.m. on the day of the arrest.

“The tag also was registered to a different vehicle,” McMann said. “The officer approached the vehicle and contacted the driver, Mahkail Reynolds, age 36 of Atmore. While speaking with Reynolds, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.”

McMann said the officer requested that Reynolds step out of the vehicle to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle.

“During the search of the vehicle the officers discovered 15.2 grams of marijuana, 12.2 grams of crack cocaine, 2.7 grams of powder cocaine, 1.3 grams of MDMA and a digital scale,” he said.

McMann said Reynolds was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
