Meridian, Miss. man arrested, charged with leaving scene of accident with injuries, DUI

A Meridian, Miss. man was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and driving under the influence charges Dec. 24, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Larry Taylor, 43, was arrested after failing sobriety tests after being located some time after the traffic accident.

McMann said at approximately 3:45 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers responded to the intersection of North Main Street and Liberty Street in reference to a traffic accident.

“When the first officer arrived on the scene, he was informed that a vehicle left the scene of the accident,” McMann said. “The witnesses provided a description of the vehicle and the direction the vehicle fled toward.”

McMann said the officer then located the vehicle a few minutes later near Sunset Drive and contacted the driver, Taylor.

“The officer observed signs of impairment and asked Taylor if he would consent to standardized field sobriety tests,” he said. “Taylor failed the tests and was arrested.”

Taylor was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
