FHP seeking information on New Year’s Day crash near Perdido Key

The Florida Highway Patrol on Tuesday asked for the public’s help for information on a New Year’s Day crash that claimed the life of a Bay Minette man and injured two others near the Flora-Bama on Perdido Key.

According to the FHP, the crash occurred at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1 at State Road 292 500 feet east of the Alabama state line.

A vehicle, which was driven by a 23-year-old male from Bay Minette, struck a raised pedestrian cross walk and the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway on the north shoulder, striking a concrete utility pole.

According to the FHP, a 23-year-old passenger of Gulf Shores sustained serious injuries.

The Bay Minette man who passed was a second passenger in the vehicle.

The FHP is asking for any witnesses who may have assisted removing the occupants out of the car or were close enough to observe to contact *FHP (*347) and ask to speak with the Pensacola Dispatch section. They will obtain all pertinent information and forward it to the investigator who will then follow up.
