The Atmore City Council approved an amended timber sale agreement during its regular meeting Feb. 12.
Mayor Jim Staff said the sale agreement needed to be moved from May 22, 204 to June 24, 2024.
According to the agreement, the purchaser will provide to the seller (city) an accurate and timely weekly accounting showing the amount of trees cut by weight and product type and the dollar amount; the purchaser will pay seller on a weekly bases as the trees are cut using the slated unit prices; and purchaser will maintain load-by-load accounting for all delivered trees by way of scale tickets at the mill to which trees are delivered.
Staff said the city approved the agreement about a year ago, and the deadline ran out. The trees are being cut by Alto Products, he added.
