Nioma Elizabeth Taylor Stewart, 96, of Atmore, passed away on Feb. 9, 2024 in Monroeville. She was born on Feb. 1, 1928 in Eliska to J.T. and Agnes Taylor.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.B. Stewart; her two daughters, Lillian Conway and Betty Walker; her siblings, Junior Taylor of Atmore, Sue Phillips of Atmore and Willie Grey Everette of Ocean Springs, Miss.; and a beloved son in law, Eugene Rackard of Chipley, Fla.
She is survived by her seven children, Bob and Darlynn Hommel of Dothan, Michael and Scott Penney-Hommel of Madison, Wisc., Martha Colbert of Excel, Dell Harrison of Flomaton, Karen Rackard of Chipley, Tina Brand of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. and Chris and Melanie Rolin of Atmore; her 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Thurl Pearson and Bro. Matthew Everette officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, AL.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 10 a.m. until service time at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Ernest Dean Rolin, Jonathon Rackard, Noah Lee, William “Bill” Walker, Nathaniel Fernandez and Tyler Fernandez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Crane, Scott Jackson, Denny Garvin, Benjamen Lee, Beau Hommel and Trucker Brand.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
