An Atmore man died in a two-vehicle crash on Jack Springs Road near Interstate 65 on Feb. 12, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Senior Trooper Joshua Thompson said in a release that Ellis E. Lee, 87, was fatally injured when the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban he was driving was struck by a 2014 Kenworth tractor-trailer, which was driving by Patrick M. Bankester, 56, of Bay Minette.

Thompson said Lee was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the crash occurred at approximate 10:50 a.m. some 3 miles north of Atmore.

Nothing further is available as troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
