Fairhope man arrested on drug, DUI charges Feb. 10

A Fairhope man was arrested on drug and driving under the influence charges Feb. 10, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Nathan Williams, 26, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana II, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence.
McMann said on the morning of the arrest at approximately 3:35, an APD officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 21 near Sunset Drive in reference to observing the vehicle swerving and the rear taillights not being illuminated.
“The officer contacted the driver (Williams),” McMann said. “The officer observed obvious signs of intoxication, and asked Williams if he would agree to standard field sobriety tests, which he ultimately failed and was placed under arrest.”
McMann added that in a search of Williams’ vehicle as a result of his arrest, officers discovered a 10 milligram oxycodone hydrochloride pill, a socket with a green leafy residue on it that field tested positive for marijuana and 1 gram of a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana.
Williams was then was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
