APD announces arrest of Panama City, Fla. man suspected of several incidents

The Atmore Police Department announced Tuesday the arrest of a Panama City, Fla. man who was a suspect in a reference of several incidents.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said Justin Daniel Ward, 26, of Panama City, was taken into custody Feb. 19 at approximately 9:50 p.m. in Daphne when a Daphne police officer conducted a traffic stop.

McMann said Ward is in the Baldwin County Jail in Bay Minette.

According to Advance archives, the APD requested information to identify Ward earlier on the day of his arrest.

McMann said in a release that the incidents began at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Saturday.

“The suspect was responsible for the theft of two vehicles both resulting in high-speed pursuits on Highway 31,” McMann said. “Both vehicles were recovered. The suspect fled from the second vehicle after failing to navigate a turn and crashed on James Road. He then fled into a heavily wooded area in the Nokomis area.”

McMann said the suspect attempted the theft of a four-wheeler, a bicycle and a golf cart as he was attempting to flee the area.

McMann said Ward has active arrest warrants in reference to fraud, dealing in stolen property and theft of property with the Panama City Beach Police Department; an active arrest warrant for felony attempting to elude with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office; and an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in reference to domestic violence III and driving with a suspended driver license with the Bay Minette Police Department.

McMann said the APD will be submitting multiple arrest warrants for theft of property, felony attempting to elude, leaving the scene of an accident and various traffic offenses.
