2 local races on Republican primary election ballot

Election slated for Tues., March 5

The Republican Primary and Constitutional Amendment Election is next Tues., March 5, and there are two local races that’ll be on the ballot.

Lew Najor is up against Incumbent Raymond Wiggins for the Escambia County Commission District 2 seat; and Incumbent Mike Edwards is up against Jerry Wilson for the Escambia County Board of Education District 3 seat.

Other races include the candidate for President of the United States between Ryan L. Binkley, Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, David Stuckenberg, Donald J. Trump and a vote for uncomitted.

For United States Representative District 1, Incumbent Rep. Jerry Carl is up against Barry Moore; for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Sarah Stewart and Bryant Taylor are on the ballot; for Court of Civil Appeals Judge Place 2, Chad Hanson and Stephen Davis Parker are on the ballot; for Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Place 2, Rich Anderson and Thomas Govan are on the ballot; and for president of the Public Service Commission, Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh is up against Robert L. McCollum.

Additionally, a proposed statewide amendment propsing an amendment to the constitution of Alabama of 2022 to amend Section 71.01 authorizing the legislature to sign and transmit local laws or constitutional amendments before the transmission of basic appropriations.
