Wilson beats Edwards for county BOE District 3 seat

Jerry Wilson beat Incumbent Mike Edwards to claim the Escambia County Board of Education District 3 seat in the 2024 Escambia County Republican Primary Election on March 5.

Wilson compiled 515 votes, compared to Edwards’ 223.

In the District 2 County Commission race, Incumbent Raymond Wiggins defeated Lew Najor 760-381.

County voters also decided on other primary races, including Donald J. Trump for president of the United States; Incumbent Rep. Jerry Carl for United States representative District 1; Sarah Stewart as chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court; Chad Johnson on the court of civil appeals judge Place 2; Rich Anderson on the court of criminal appeals judge Place 2; and Twinkle Cavanaugh as president of the public service commission.

In the democratic primary, county voters chose President Joe. R. Biden as the nominee.

Additionally, county voters voted no on statewide amendment No. 2.
