The Atmore and northwest Florida areas are under a slight risk for severe storms this afternoon and tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the NWS, strong to severe storms remain possible this afternoon into evening with damaging winds and large hail the primary hazards.

“A tornado or two can’t be ruled out,” NWS officials said. “Storms will gradually work their way southward through the area, with the threat ending a couple hours after sunset.”

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued until 7 tonight, acccording to the NWS.
